Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding given to schools and academies to:

  • raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
  • support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces.

Schools and academies receive additional (Pupil Premium) funding based on the number of pupils who have been eligible for free school meals.

Funding allocations for 2025-2026

  • £1,45 for each eligible primary aged pupil.
  • £2,530 for each Child in care (or Previously in care)
  • Total = £128, 775  based on 85 pupils (numbers correct on 27/11/25). Please see our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement for spending plans.
  • Our Pupil Premium Strategy lists how we will spend this and the planned total expenditure for 2025-2026 = £153,550

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and it will be used by St Teresa’s to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most in the areas they need it most to be successful in life.

Key Principles for using the Pupil Premium Grant at St. Teresa’s Catholic Primary Academy

  • St. Teresa’s has an academy-wide commitment to raise achievement for pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium and knows these pupils must make faster progress than non-eligible pupils and is determined to achieve this.
  • St. Teresa’s never confuses eligible pupils with low ability and strives to bring out the best in this group of pupils and support them to achieve the highest levels.
  • St. Teresa’s has a package of support aimed to tackle the range of barriers including; attendance, behaviour, external factors, professional development focusing on improving outcomes for eligible pupils, improving the quality of teaching and learning, opportunities for first-hand experiences and development of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • St. Teresa’s directs resources and interventions to accelerate progress of eligible pupils and close any attainment gaps compared to their peers.
  • St. Teresa’s uses data to carefully track the impact of targeted spending (interventions, resources, projects) on attainment and progress of eligible pupils.
  • The Leadership Team & Governing body have recently prioritised ways to check how funding is allocated and the difference it is making to the outcomes of pupils. This will continue termly.
  • St. Teresa’s ensures class teachers, phase leaders and subject leaders know which pupils are eligible for Pupil Premium so they can take responsibility for accelerating progress and accountability is shared across the academy.
  • The Governing Body is ambitious for pupils and closely monitors the academy’s effectiveness in closing the gap between different groups of pupils. The Vice -chair is our  Pupil Premium Link Governor, Mrs G Walker.
